The Rwandan Genocide

Why did this genocide happen?

What sparked these events was the unfair treatment of other racial groups. When the Germans came to Rwanda, they treated the Tutsis as the higher class. When the Belgians came, the roles reversed. They gave identification cards to the two ethnic groups. This identified who was from which ethnicity. When the Belgians left, the Hutus seized all the power. The amnesty between these two ethnic groups continued for several decades. Rwanda’s genocide is one of the most heinous crimes against humanity. The genocidal maniacs (the Hutu) waited for an opportunity to launch their final solution.  Because of this, Hutus were forced to kill their Tutsi neighbors. Many other Hutus involved in this fight say that they killed their own neighbors and claim that the devil has plagued their hearts. As one can see, the two ethnic groups did get along, but when the Hutus were biased against the Tutsis, they bore hatred. Therefore it caused turmoil and suffering to both racial groups.
